Focus on Design Features –
Bespoke Profiles

We are seeing many customers wanting something unique – a truly personal choice of style – in their luxury kitchen or bathroom project. One feature which designers and customers are increasingly using to elevate the ornamental aspect of their design is a special edge profile.

In the main, bespoke edge profiles are chosen for aesthetic reasons. However, some edges also have a practical purpose. On contemporary-style kitchens, with true handleless and J-pull doors, the shark-nose profile not only gives that lovely “floaty” look of a very thin, unsupported worktop, but streamlines and eases the use of the handles. It is a really good option if you are going for a slab-door kitchen. It also gives the impression of a thinner edge look when it is not possible to use a thinner surface for structural reasons.

Although there are a range of Bespoke profiles that are pretty much industry standard. Bespoke edge profiles, industry standard.
Our experienced stonemasons are able to create bespoke profiles, only limited by the nature and thickness of the customer’s choice of stone. Here are a few examples:
Unique Double-stepped profile designed for a feature island by the interior designer on Calacatta Bronzite Quartz
Bespoke Hilton Dupont profile on Taj Mahal Qtz
Some more delicate natural materials with varied mineral content are not as suitable for some edge profiles. Porcelain and sintered stones are also not often good materials for elaborate edge profiles due to the hardness of the stone, although they can be with some sharknose and mitred options.
