Verona Stone Show 2025
Andy enjoyed his visit to Marmomac aka the Verona Stone Show this month. Here he gives a brief summary for some of the kitchen worktop trends that he perceived while looking round the show.
The Marmomac 2025 Stone Show in Verona once again proved why it’s the global hub for stone innovation. This year’s event highlighted how far the industry has come — from raw quarrying to refined kitchen surfaces — with sustainability, creativity and technology leading the way. For anyone interested in granite, marble or quartz worktops, the trends unveiled in Verona give a clear glimpse of what kitchens will look like over the next few years.
1. Sustainability and Stone with Proven Credentials
Environmental responsibility took centre stage at Marmomac 2025. Italian producers presented the first comprehensive Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for natural stone, proving that genuine marble and granite already have a lower carbon footprint than many man-made alternatives. Expect to see more suppliers offering certified eco-friendly slabs, energy-efficient quarrying, and traceable sourcing — a reassuring step for homeowners seeking beautiful kitchen worktops with a lighter impact on our planet.
2. Recycled and Hybrid Stone Materials
A fascinating direction this year is the creative reuse of stone waste and marble powder. Some manufacturers showcased recycled stone composites and hybrid materials that turn quarry off-cuts into stunning new surfaces. These eco-engineered slabs often feature bold patterns and subtle textures, offering sustainable choices for worktops without sacrificing elegance or strength.

3. Thin, Large-Format and Precision-Cut Slabs
Advances in cutting technology mean that thinner slabs — as little as 12–15mm — can now be fabricated with exceptional strength. For kitchen design, this opens up sleek, minimal profiles and integrated splashbacks – provided that the cabinet fitting is up to it! As ever, the quality of a stone worktop fit literally depends on the quality of the carcass fit beneath, and where customers want beautifully thin tops, they need to ensure that the foundational support is right.
That said, large-format quartzites, porcelains and engineered stones are becoming easier to install thanks to improved CNC and multi-wire cutting systems.
3-D Printing in Stone
Using “liquid stone” a textured table top can now be created in stone.
4. Bold Colour and Natural Drama
Gone are the days of plain grey or white. The standout worktops in Verona featured dramatic veining, rich colours and expressive patterns. Deep blues, green quartzites, and warm, rusty earth tones are set to define the next generation of luxury kitchens. Textured finishes — from leathered to brushed or flamed — continue to grow in popularity, giving a tactile, natural feel that contrasts beautifully with modern cabinetry.
5. Light, Texture and Smart Surfaces
Designers are experimenting with light and translucency, back-lighting certain marble or onyx features to create stunning focal points. New surface treatments for natural stone also offer enhanced resistance to staining and wear, ideal for busy kitchens. And the engineered stone and ceramics manufacturers are mining the same rich seam – their copy offerings are close behind the “real” stone and with fewer drawbacks.
The message is clear: modern stone worktops are about both performance and personality.
All in all a worthwhile visit to the flagship show for our industry. Muchly enjoyed… and completed by the search for the best Tiramisu in Verona!
