Waterjet Cutting

AG Stoneworks invested in waterjet-cutting capability in 2023, to meet the increasing demand for fabricating sintered, ceramic and delicate natural materials.

Our Intermac Primus waterjet combines a high-powered pump, filtered garnet sand and a finely guided focussing nozzle to deliver 55,000 PSI into a cutting stream around 1mm wide. This jet penetrates eaily through the sheet of stone whilst placing minimal stress on the material. When combined with the interpolated 5-axis head and the thickness probe the machine can achieve a wide variety of accurate straight and mitred cutting, even in the most ticklish materials.

Power and Precision

Engineering in Stone

The Intermac Primus machine has a large cutting bed allowing a working area of close to 4m x 1.8m. There is a lower size limit of around 20cm square – anything smaller may fall through the slats!

The accurate cutting stream has been invaluable in the workshop as it dramatically reduces the need for hand tooling to achieve internal corners, socket cutouts and accurate scribe lines. This in turn helps keep our stonemasons safe whilst improving the quality of the resulting work.

Waterjet cutting allows us to create complex shapes in stone, and to join cut materials to give an inlaid look. Intermac Primus heralded a new era for us in quality and consistency.
